Aloha offers several varieties of retreats, ceremonies and rituals. Our commitment for each of these events is to provide a secure space for healing and the acquisition of self knowledge, to offer the most nutritious and delicious veg(etari)an food under the Sun, and to provide welcoming and comfortable accommodation to pass the night in well earned rest.
We have a fully equipped kitchen in which we provide three vegetarians meals per day, according to the individual needs of those who reside within the community. During certain events, a specific diet shall be followed. We eat together in a big family style, and we are proud to be able to offer a new flavour every time a plate is served from the kitchen. We do our best to grow food on our own farm, and our harvest is supplemented by the local produce from our neighbouring farmers. We host breadmaking workshops, fermentation classes and germination demonstrations in order to share the knowledge we have gained in providing a nutritious and balanced diet.
Currently we have 3 two floor cabañas built in all natural materials. There are fours beds in each, 2 rows of 2 side by side, and a queen sized bed in the loft. All come equipped with mosquito nets, power sockets for recharging your devices, and personal lockers for storage of your belongings. Each cabaña is fitted with a roll down rain protector, to keep things dry in the rainy season. Also, there is a hammoch in each one, with a stunning view towards the rolling mountains all the way down to the lakes of Cienaga in the far distance. As dawn arises it is simply a dream come true to wake up to such a marvellous overview of the Sierra Nevada in all her majesty.
We have a bathroom which comprises of two ecological toilets and two showers. The toilets function in a closed cycle whereby no waste is produced, and the organic materials are converted into a rich compost for the trees. Our showers are heated by a passive solar tank fitted with inductive glass tubing, allowing community members to take a hot shower at any time of the day without any external energy input except the Sun.
Our recently finished temple offers the largest covered space on the farm, with a ten metre diameter and a firepit in the centre. Around the walls, there are ample hammocks to rest, relax or read a book. This is the central meeting point for ceremonies, workshops, sharing circles, yoga or other acrobatic classes, amongst many others besides. To one side we have placed our altar, which represents the values which we have chosen to guide us.
In this space there are several hammocks plus a beach style sand floor. It is an excellent alternative to the temple when you wish to relax, study or have a rewarding conversation. Given that it is so close to the sleeping areas, we ask that the peace and quiet of those in the vecinity be respected. With smaller groups or events, this space is sometimes preferable to the temple for its intimate atmosphere.
